Working With Children and Young People
"I truly believe that early intervention can make such a difference in securing positive outcomes for children and I am passionate about supporting children to build emotional resilience during the challenging times in their early lives".
I have experience working as a school counsellor in both the independent and state sector in both primary and secondary education as well as managing a school based counselling service for a leading children's mental health charity.
In my private practice I offer weekly counselling sessions to children and young people aged 10 years and over. In my work with children and young people I offer a range of therapeutic techniques depending on age and need including talking therapy, creative work and play. I have experience supporting students who are struggling with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, grief and loss, exam stress, gender and identity, low self esteem and relationship struggles with family and friends.
Utilising techniques such as play and creative therapy your child will have the opportunity to explore and express their thoughts and feelings. They will develop coping strategies and techniques as well as a greater understanding of emotions, relationships and behaviour. This approach will ensure that your child is able to use their voice to feel heard and understood and empowered to navigate life's challenges with increased confidence and a greater sense of resilience.
I can offer time limited or open ended sessions depending on the needs of the child or young person. Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at the same time each week in the comfort of my private counselling space in Walton-on-Thames.
