Counselling in Walton-on-Thames

Home. Headshot5Welcome to my website

I am a BACP registered and experienced counsellor offering both short and long term counselling to adults, children and young people. My practice is in a quiet location in Walton-on-Thames and offers a safe and welcoming space for you to explore your current difficulties.

People come to counselling for many reasons. You may be experiencing a major life event, personal crisis or challenge and may be finding it difficult to work through this on your own. Counselling is useful for anyone who is interested in exploring their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and wishing to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and a greater level of self awareness.

I have a particular interest in perinatal mental health, the parent-infant relationship and supporting parents with the transition to parenthood and beyond. I work with both mums and dads experiencing difficulties such as postnatal depression, anxiety and birth trauma. I also work in preparing parents for the psychological transition to becoming a mother and father, an often neglected element of antenatal courses, yet one of the most common challenges faced by the parents I see.

I have worked as a school counsellor for a leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support interventions to help improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff. I have experience working in primary and secondary schools offering talking therapy, creative and play therapy to students struggling with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, exam stress, gender and identity, low self esteem and relationship struggles with family and friends. I am passionate about supporting young people to help build emotional resilience during the challenging times in their lives.

Prior to training as a counsellor I spent over 10 years providing HR advice, training, coaching, mentoring, mediation and outplacement support within the voluntary and higher education sector. I believe that my previous experience, combined with my clinical experience as a counsellor offers a unique experience in supporting you on your journey.

It is there all the time".
