Counselling in Walton-on-Thames

Hello, I'm Charity

I'm an experienced psychodynamic counsellor and clinical supervisor offering both short and long term counselling to adults, children (age 10+) and young people.

There are many reasons why you might be seeking counselling at this time. You may be experiencing a major life event or transition, a personal crisis or challenge and perhaps you are finding it difficult to work through this on your own. Counselling is useful for anyone who is interested in exploring their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and wishing to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and improve their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Clients come to me for help with a wide range of difficulties including:

  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Baby loss
  • Birth trauma
  • Career counselling
  • Depression
  • Family difficulties
  • Grief
  • Infertility
  • Low self esteem
  • Low mood
  • Menopause
  • Miscarriage
  • Parenting difficulties
  • Postnatal depression
  • Pregnancy and birth
  • Redundancy
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Separation
  • Sexuality
  • Stress

I have a special interest in perinatal mental health, the parent-infant relationship and supporting parents with the transition to parenthood and beyond. I have worked with both mums and dads experiencing difficulties such as postnatal depression, postnatal anxiety, birth trauma and the psychological adjustment to becoming a mum or dad.

I have undertaken additional training in supporting parents following baby loss and have experience in supporting women with preparing for a subsequent pregnancy following a birth trauma or baby loss.

I have worked as a school counsellor for a leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support interventions to help improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff. I have experience working in primary and secondary schools offering talking therapy, creative and play therapy to students struggling with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, exam stress, gender and identity, low self esteem and relationship struggles with family and friends.

Prior to training as a counsellor I worked in Human Resources providing HR consultancy, training, coaching, mentoring, mediation and career counselling within the voluntary and higher education sector. I believe that my combined experience as a coach, mentor and counsellor provides a unique space to support you and your wellbeing.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to their professional code of conduct and ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.

My practice is in a quiet location in Walton-on-Thames and offers a safe and welcoming space for you to explore your current difficulties.

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within.
It is there all the time".
